Application Instructions

1. The NAPIRE Application is due February 28, 2007.

2. Electronic Application: Please fill in the Word document at the link below by clicking on the blank area of each field (note: you should click on the area directly next to the field description). Once the form is completed save it following the instructions below and send it as an attachment to:

Although we prefer to receive applications electronically, if you do not have access to WORD or email you may print the pdf version of the application and send it by regular mail to: Organization for Tropical Studies, Box 90633, Durham NC 27708-0633.

Please send the following applications components to OTS via e-mail at :

• Student application form: Your application should be saved in the following format:

  NAPIREAppl(YOUR LASTNAME, YOUR FIRST INITIALS).docFor example, if your name is Jane Elizabeth Smith, you should label your applications:

  NAPIREappl(SMITH,JE).doc

• On-campus mentor recommendation form: As part of the application process, you should designate one on-campus mentor. Please have your mentor send a letter of recommendation directly to OTS. The form should be saved as: NAPIREmen(YOUR LASTNAME, YOUR FIRST INITIALS).doc For example, if your name is Andrew Johnson, letters of recommendation should be labeled:

  NAPIREmen(JOHNSON,A).doc

• Letter of recommendation form: One letter of recommendation should be sent directly to OTS by the second recommender and should be saved as: NAPIRErec(YOUR LASTNAME, YOUR FIRST INITIALS).doc For example, if your name is Miriam Pardo, the letter of recommendation should be labeled:

  NAPIRErec(JOHNSON,A).doc

You may download the recommendation form and send it electronically to the faculty member you have asked to write a recommendation, or you can provide the faculty member with a link to the form.

3. Application Hard Copies. Please send hard copies of official transcripts to the OTS North American Office at Box 90633, Durham, NC 27708-0633.
