Information
La Selva
offers 1000 m2 of laboratory infrastructure where station
users can have personal working space with or without Air
Conditioning (A/C). There are 22 offices of different sizes,
with a total of 22 desks, plus benches and working tables
to accommodate users according to their needs and the amount
of time they will stay at the Station.
GOALS:
The goals
of the lab are:
1) Provide the services of a general lab, with basic equipment
and chemicals for standard analytical and biological tests.
2) Insure access to basic and safe working spaces for all
users of the lab facility
3) Provide access to office/desk space to researchers that
need them.
4) Provide the services of remote sensing (including meteorological
data).
5) Provide the services of a Library.
6) Provide a menu of technical services to research projects
(or others), using trained personnel, or hiring the technicians
from other institutions.
7) Facilitate the tools and services required by the researchers
to do their studies.
8) Development of a research program using external grants
that helps to direct, manage and maintain the labs.
WORKING
HOURS AND PERSONNEL SCHEDULE:
All Lab facilities are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week, and can be used by all resident students and researchers
at the Station. Researchers have access to basic equipment
and spaces at any time during the day.
Lab personnel (manager and assistants) work during office
hours (from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 5 pm)
five days a week. The entire Station has power supply all
day long. A backup electrical generator is automatically set
if the external electricity supply fails (except from 12 to
5am).

lab, which is a screened area mainly designed to process
gross samples.

La
Selva lab facility also offers equipment like: compound and
dissecting microscopes, scales, ovens, refrigerators and freezers,
copy machine, public phone and fax. A list with more details
