Environmental
Outreach
At the local level, environmental
education is vital for the long-term protection
of natural resources and biodiversity.
The
friendship, trust, and support of local communities are actively
sought and secured in order to preserve the natural habitats near
the OTS biological stations. Among other things, OTS serves on private
and governmental advisory committees to assist in the management
of regional conservation areas, including the critical buffer zones
embracing the needs of local communities. OTS regularly schedules
public seminars and open houses at our field stations and provides
outreach programs that extend to local farmers, teachers, schoolchildren
and members of the communities.
